Faenza, Monday 30 July 2018
If in the competitive swimming sector an autumn meeting is already
scheduled in Faenza, in field of digital underwater photography Centro Sub Nuoto Club 2000 Faenza
definitely aims to organize an indoor event
in the month of February next year.
We want to restore a specialty that in Italy was practically set aside
in the last twenty years in favor of offshore activities that certainly
have greater appeal - Antonio Marcelli, president of the Centro Sub Nuoto Club 2000 Faenza.
This does not happen in other countries and the meeting of 2019 World Indoor Championships (CMAS)
in November 2019 appears to be rich and interesting.
It is clear that we are interested in participating actively, so we are pressing Federazione Italiana - Fipsas
to give us the green light and the
support to organize the Italian Championship, or a International Meeting
that can be considered as general test, to see which level Russians,
Hungarian, Croatian and so on are and to have our best 8 fotosub involved
in the competition. In both cases over twenty athletes will be in the
competition and they could be even more if all Italians were present,
each one with a couple of assistants.
It should be clarified that indoor underwater photography obviously takes
place under the water of a pool (in Faenza the pools of the main building
in Piazzale Pancrazi and the one of via Marozza are available), where the
competitors must necessarily show imagination and creativity in creating
situations, even with the help of panels made to measure, to be
immortalized, then to be delivered to the jury for evaluation.

A Short Note Of History
Faenza, of Roman origin, is a splendid city of art whose fame shone during
the period Renaissance for the production of ceramic objects, exquisite
workmanship, exported in many European countries. The toponym itself has
become synonymous with ceramic (majolica) in many languages, including
French (faïance) and English (faience). The city flourished notably,
starting from the second half of the first century AD, due to its agricultural
activity and the development of industrial activities such as the production
of objects in ceramics, bricks, and linen textiles. After a period of
decline lasting from the second century until the early Middle Ages, it
regained prosperity from the 8th century onwards. Around the year 1000,
with the government of the Bishops, and later in the communal age, he
lived a long moment of wealth and building expansion that would reach
its peak in the age of the lordship of the Manfredi. After a brief
Venetian rule, Faenza became part of the state of the Church until 1859.
The current face of the city was therefore formed in this long period of
historical evolution, enriching itself of great architectures value, with
a strong Renaissance characterization.

Palaces, Squares, Porticos And a Cathedral Of Pure Tuscan Forms
The most important architectural presences of Faenza are concentrated in
the two contiguous main squares: Piazza del Popolo, bounded by two
spectacular double ordered porticoed wings, and Piazza della Libertà.
Piazza del Popolo hosts Palazzo Del Podestà and the Town Hall, both of
medieval origin; long the eastern side of Piazza Della Libertà stands the
splendid Cathedral, one of the highest expressions of Renaissance art in
Romagna, of clear Tuscan influence. In front of the Cathedral, the portico
called Portico degli Orefici, built in the first decade of the Seventeenth
century, and the monumental Fountain, whose bronzes date back equally to the
seventeenth century. In front of the entrance to the Piazza stands the Clock
Tower, post-war reconstruction of a seventeenth-century tower located at the
intersection of the cardo and the decumanus of Faventia Roman.

city districts - recalls, in the month of June, the pomp and fights of

Meadows, Flowers, Water Mirrors, In The Heart Of The City
Faenza is a green city. Annexed to the Civic Museum of Natural Sciences,
which houses important naturalistic collections, the Botanical Garden
preserves more than 170 species of spontaneous plants present in Romagna.
The urban public green covers an area of about 100 hectares and is object
of great care by the public administration. Bucci Park, built in 1968,
covers about 8 hectares between undulations, green meadows and rich water
areas of fish and birds, including ducks and swans. The pride of the
Park is a large herd of storks. The public gardens offer the possibility
of pleasant stops between water and flowers, in various areas of the
urban heart.
